You don’t need to finish  your entire list of “places to see before you die” to start exploring the underwater world. There are amazing attractions under the oceans’ water around the planet that reveal what you never imagined would exist. Here we have a list of incredible underwater museums around the world.

Museo Subacuático de Arte – MUSA  (Cancun, Mexico): Considered the largest museum of contemporary sculpture in the world, the MUSA  has about 500 life sized sculptures. The formation of the statues is such in order to protect the marine life around them providing shelter for the sea life.

Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park (Molinere, Grenada): In this museum visitors can find 65 interesting sculptures entirely made of concrete and rebar. Every year more statues are add to the collection transforming the museum in a new place to explore even for the ones who have already been there.

Museo Atlantico (Lanzarote, Spain): The first Europe’s underwater museum has about 400 sculptures spread in a 2.5000 square meters area. This museum features realist sculptures of people in different situations and it was designed by the same artist from the MUSA in Cancun.

Shipwreck Trail (Florida, USA):  Different from the other ones, the Shipwreck Trail was not something designed to be a museum. Actually, this is a cemetery with a dozen sunken ships created along three centuries of maritime accidents. The museum is located inside the Florida Keys Maritime Sanctuary and it is very well preserved.

Underwater Museum at Cape Tarkhankut (Cape Tarkhankut, Crimea): Also known as the “Alley of the Leaders” this museum features a unique collection of more than 50 sculptures and busts of former Soviet leaders and replicas of the most famous places in the world. Marx, Stalin and Lenin are side by side with the Eiffel Towers and the London Bridge.

Monterroso’s Bay Island Underwater Museum (Roatan, Honduras): In this museum, visitors will find statues and artifacts from the Maya Era along with pre-Columbian burial masks and sundials from the 17th century. There you can also spot replicas of Spanish ships and a beautiful sea fauna and flora.
